Paul Adelstein is an American actor and producer, born on April 29, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois. He is best known for playing Doctor Cooper Friedman on Private Practice and Special Agent Kellerman on Prison Break alongside Wentworth Miller. He started his career in theatre, working with the production company New Crime Productions, founded by John Cusack. He later worked with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Between jobs, he worked as a waiter with actress Kate Walsh at Café du Midi in Chicago. Adelstein has gone from being a respected Chicago stage actor to starring in Scrubs and Without a Trace to Memoirs of a Geisha and Be Cool. In 2018, he starred in NBC's I Feel Bad. The role of Leo on Scandal was written especially for Adelstein. When he has time, he still writes for the band Doris, where he is both a singer and guitarist.
