Paul Hogan was born on October 8th, 1939 in New South Wales, Australia. His first comedy television appearance in the show A Current Affair (1971) appealed so much to viewers that he was given his own comedy sketch show. The Paul Hogan Show (1973-1984) gave him further experience in developing his own comedy, but it was his co-written performance in Crocodile Dundee (1986) that brought Hogan to infamy. His future films received less attention, but he became renowned for his work in Australian tourism advertisements. His nationalistic work led to his title of Australian of the Year (1985) from the Order of Australia. Hogan received a Golden Globe for Crocodile Dundee, an award for Best Actor (1986), as well as a nomination for Best Screenplay at the Academy Awards.
