Paul Thomas Anderson was born on Studio City, California on June 26, 1970.
His work for Boogie Nights in 1997 received the 20/20 Awards for Best Picture in 2018. It was also nominated for Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen in 1998. The 2007 film There Will Be Blood won the Best Foreign Feature Film in the 2008 Amanda Awards in Norway. He won the Austin Film Critics Award for Best Director and the Silver Bear from the Berlin International Film Festival for the same film. He also won the Best Director in 2002 for Punch-Drunk Love at the Cannes Film Festival.
In 2014, Inherent Vice also received an Oscar nomination for Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay. Phantom Thread (2017) received a nomination for Best Achievement in Directing and Best Motion Picture of the Year.
