Peel is a collaborative music project led by Sean Cimino and Isom Innis, who both have a multi-instrumentalist background, and Innis also doubles as the project's visual artist and producer.
The idea for Peel came about during a month-long recording session at Innis's concrete loft above the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. The spacious surroundings served as a perfect environment for musical experimentation, where they were able to create innovative sounds using various instruments and equipment.
Cimino and Innis developed a creative process where they first looped guitar and synths, and then introduced drums and synthetic textures before recording a vocal performance with a Shure SM7 microphone. The lyrics for their debut single ROM-COM were often derived from stream-of-consciousness writing and reflected the modern era's existential concerns.
Their discography includes the hit single Citizen X and their eponymous EP, Peel.
