Perfume Genius Bio
Perfume Genius is the stage name of American singer Michael Alden Hadreas, born in Des Moines, Iowa on September 25, 1981. Hadreas had to face several difficulties, as he fought Crohn’s disease, domestic abuse, and bullying. His musical proposal explores personal issues using various styles such as indie pop, baroque pop, folk or indie rock. In 2005, he started recording music dealing with the themes that were most important to him. In 2008, he created a MySpace account called Perfume Genius, where he began to share his music and thus officially began his musical career. He soon gained a solid fan base and in 2010 he released his debut album “Learning”. It was soon followed by a string of singles including “Put Your Back N2 It”, “Too Bright”, “No Shape” and “Set My Heart on Fire Immediately”. Hadreas has been nominated for several awards such as the Dorian Awards, the Robert Awards Music Poll, Best Art Vinyl and the Music Week Sync Awards in 2017.
