Pernell McPhee was born in Pahokee, Florida on December 17, 1988. He was the fifth round, the 165th overall pick of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2011 NFL Draft. He helped the Ravens win the Super Bowl XLVII. He was the defensive end of the Ravens, but he switched to linebacker in 2013.
After being released by the Ravens, he signed a five-year contract with the Chicago Bears. In 2018, he signed a contract with the Washington Redskins where he is the outside linebacker.
McPhee went to Itawamba Community College. In his sophomore year, he was named as NJCAA All-American. He transferred to the Mississippi State University later on. In 2009, he was named All-SEC as a junior and All-SEC first team during his senior year.
