Peter Killian Gallagher is an American actor and writer best known for his work in film and television. He was born in New York City, New York, United States, on August 19, 1955. Peter began his acting career in the early 1980s when he appeared in the TV series Skag and the films The Idolmaker and Summer Lovers. He has since been a regular on the TV series Grey's Anatomy, Grace and Frankie, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Gifted, New Girl, Togetherness, and Covert Affairs, but he is best known for starring in the comedy-drama series The O.C. alongside Mischa Barton, Adam Brody, Kelly Rowan, Ben McKenzie, and Rachel Bilson. His filmography includes the blockbusters American Beauty, Mr. Deeds, While You Were Sleeping, A Bad Moms Christmas, Malice, Burlesque, and House on Haunted Hill.
