Peter Hook, born as Peter Woodhead, on February 13, 1956, in Broughton, Salford, England, is an English singer, songwriter, and multi-musician, best known for being the bassist and co-founder of the two iconic English rock bands named New Order and Joy Division. He formed Warsaw, which later became Joy Division with his childhood friend Bernard Sumner. Later, the band’s lead vocalist, Ian Curtis, joined and Joy Division played their first gig in May 1977. After the death of the lead vocalist, Ian Curtis, Joy Division was renamed into New Order in 1980. Both bands have had enormous success, and New Order proceeds to exist today. Peter Hook is the author of three books, one of which is the biography of Joy Division, and one is the biography of New Order.
