Sir Peter Robert Jackson, better known as Peter Jackson, is a New Zealand film director, screenwriter, and film producer, famous for having written, directed and produced The Lord of The Rings trilogy and the Hobbit trilogy, adapted from the popular novels written by J. R. R. Tolkien. He was born on October 31, 1961, in Wellington, New Zealand. Some of his oldest work includes the famous splatter horror comedy film Bad Taste. He has co-written the screenplay for the drama film Heavenly Creatures and was shared a nomination for Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay with his partner Fran Walsh. Peter Jackson has been awarded three Academy Awards for his work on The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, and has won an award for Best Director. Some of his other awards include a Golden Globe, four Saturn Awards, and three BAFTAs among many others.
