Peter John Kay is a comedian born in Bolton, Lancashire, England, on July 2, 1973. He is an alumnus of the University of Salford. He blends musical, observational, and physical genres of comedy. His subjects include everyday life, family, British culture, pop culture, and human behavior.
In 1997, Peter won Channel 4's So You Think You're Funny? and the North West Comedian of the Year award. The following year, he performed an hour-long show at the Edinburgh Fringe. The show received a nomination for the Perrier Award. He portrayed Brian Potter in Comic Relief Does Little Britain: Live and Geraldine McQueen in Britain's Got the Extra Pop Factor and Then Some 2 + 1.
Peter starred as Victor Kennedy in an episode of Doctor Who in 2006. Some of his notable credits include That Peter Kay Thing (1999), Phoenix Nights (2001–2002), Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere (2004), and Peter Kay's Car Share (2015–2018). He has won several awards, including BAFTA TV Aware, Banff Rockie Award, British Comedy Award, and Television and Radio Industries Club Award.
