Pink Martini is an American jazz pop band that crosses many styles and functions like a small orchestra, as they have over 10 musicians on stage. The band was formed in 1994 by pianist Thomas Lauderdale, in Portland, Oregon. The following year, Lauderdale invited singer China Forbes to join the band and their debut single “Sympathique” was a huge success, as it was nominated for Song of the Year at the Victoires de la Musique Awards. In 1997, they performed at the Cannes Film Festival and a year later, they made their orchestral debut alongside the Oregon Symphony directed by Norman Leyden. They have performed alongside dozens of orchestras since, including the Lo Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl and the San Francisco Symphony. They have recorded 9 albums including “Je dis oui!” in 2016 released by Heinz Records.
