PJ Black Bio

Paul Lloyd Jr. (born March 3, 1981 in Cape Town, South Africa), most renowned as PJ Black, is a South African professional wrestler. PJ is a second-generation wrestler. He was trained by his father at a young age and made his professional debut at the age of 16, competing in events across South Africa and the United Kingdom. Following his move to the United Kingdom, PJ Black was trained by Alex Shane and Mark Sloan.


He competed for the World Wrestling Professionals (WWP) against other pro wrestlers like Tornado, Dameon Duke, Mikey Whiplash, and Joe E. Legend. While wrestling as Justin Angel, PJ held the World Cruiserweight Champion title for 13 days. In 2008, PJ became the first South African in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) after signing a three-year contract with the company. While training in the company's developmental division, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), PJ won the FCW Heavyweight Championship under the ring name Justin Gabriel.


In 2011, PJ was promoted to the NXT roster. At NXT, PJ became a part of the pro wrestling group, The Nexus and migrated to the main shows Raw and Smackdown. Once the group disbanded, he proceeded to singles competition and numerous tag teams. During his time at WWE, he won 2 Slammy Awards and 3 Tag Team Titles. He adopted the name PJ Black after leaving the WWE and has made appearances for a number of independent companies around the world, including TNA, Ring of Honor, and Lucha Underground.
