Plastik Funk Bio

Plastik Funk is a music duo of Mikio Gruschinske and Rafael Ximenez-Carrillo. The two formed the music group in 2002 when they were still in high school.  The duo is widely recognized for their single “Dr. Who!” in collaboration with Sneakbo and Tujabo. The single charted at number 21 on the UK Singles Chart. The duo drew inspiration from the likes of David Morales and Frankie Knuckles. Before coming together, they two had become DJs at two different nightclubs in Düsseldorf, Germany.

They released their first EP, titled “Do It Right” in 2003. They released 13 singles in 2011. One single, a cover for “Everybody Dance Now” by C+C Music Factory, made it to the German charts. In 2012, they released their hit song “Who,” which was very successful. They toured throughout the following the success of the song. In 2020, the duo teamed with Tim Morrison and Nervo to release the cover “Dare Me” by Pointer Sisters.
