Porcupine Tree, a British band widely credited with reviving progressive rock in the 1990s, embraced and explored influences while also incorporating indie rock, post-punk, metal, and electronic music. Steven Wilson, the band's guitarist, singer, composer, and producer, first used the name as an alias for his solo projects. Richard Barbieri, Chris Maitland, and Colin Edwin met while recording The Sky Moves Sideways in 1995. They later formed a band and explored new musical horizons with Signify in 1996. Gavin Harrison took over Maitland's role in the critically acclaimed In Absentia. Fear of a Blank Planet, released in 2007, was conceptual in nature, while The Incident, their first studio album in 13 years, featured a lengthy suite and a number of shorter compositions. Furthermore, in 2022, they made a comeback with Closure/Continuation.
