Prescott Niles, the original bassist, for The Knack was born on 2 May 1954 in the United States. His genres are Pop Rock, New Wave, Rock, and Power Pop. The Knack was formed in 1978 by Douglas Lars Fieger in Los Angeles. They were signed by Capitol and Mike Chapman shined them up as he had done with Blondie and The Knack became famous with their USA nr 1 and UK nr 6, hit single, My Sharona. The song featured in the Ben Stiller film Reality Bites, in 1994.
Prescott Niles driving licks on bass can be heard on the classic recording of My Sharona and his strong rhythm on bass teaming with drummer Bruce Gary has been an inspiration for many garage bands over the world. Prescott played with the Knack up to 2012. Since 2013 he has played bass with Missing Persons and Mike Pinera’s Classic Rock.
