R.E.M. Bio

R.E.M. is a band formed in Athens, Georgia, United States in 1980. The group members are Michael Stipe, Mike Mills, Peter Buck, and Bill Berry. Pop/rock is their musical specialty, and their style is alternative pop/rock, alternative/indie rock, American underground, college rock, jangle pop, adult alternative pop/rock, and contemporary pop/rock. R.E.M. marked the point where post-punk turned into alternative rock. Some of their song highlights are “Losing My Religion”, “The One I Love”, “Everybody Hurts”, “It’s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)”, “Drive”, “Fall On Me” and many more. In the movies, they are known for their work on “Man on the Moon”, “Vanilla Sky”, “Blast from the Past”, “Independence Day”, etc. In 2007, R.E.M. was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They have a total of 13 Grammy Award Nominations, and 3 wins. In 1991, their song “Losing My Religion” won 2 Grammy Awards - Best Music Video - Short Form; and Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. That same year, they also won a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album for “Out Of Time”. R.E.M. also has 2 MTV Europe Music Award Nominations, and many VMA Awards and nominations.
