Rachel Anne Griffiths is an award-winning Australian actress, writer, and director best known for her work in film and television. She was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on December 18, 1968. Rachel began her acting career in the early 1990s she appeared in the TV series Secrets and Jimeoin, but she became a household name in 2001 when she starred in the comedy-drama series Six Feet Under alongside Peter Krause, Michael C. Hall, Frances Conroy, and Lauren Ambrose. Her filmography includes the blockbusters My Best Friend's Wedding, Saving Mr. Banks, Hacksaw Ridge, Step Up, and Blow. Rachel has won multiple awards including an AACTA Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, three Australian Film Institute Awards for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, two Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, and a Film Critics Circle of Australia Award for Best Supporting Actor – Female.
