Rafael Casal is an American writer, producer, actor, and poet who was born on August 8th, 1985 in the United States. He was raised in the Bay Area, California, United States. Rafael is of Irish, Spanish, and Cuban descent. Rafael made his film debut in Blindspotting, a movie he wrote, produced, and starred in. The movie premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and Lionsgate and later won a major bidding war. He featured as the showrunner, co-creator, and writer for the season of the Starz series. He acted opposite Hugh Jackman in the Emmy award-winning HBO film Bad Education, and also appeared as Ethan Hawke in The Good Lord Bird. Rafael also wrote the Apple series Central Park and is also well known for his work on HBO’s Def Poetry. As an artist, he has released several solo albums including Mean Ones (2012), As Good As Your Word (2008), and Monster in 2009. Rafael paired with Diggs to release a pair of EPs, the Collin and Miles EPs to accompany their film Blindspotting.
