Railroad Earth is a roots and Americana-based jam band founded in 2001 in Stillwater, New Jersey. They derived their name from the title of a Jack Kerouac short story entitled “October in the Railroad Earth.” Their sound has been described as a combination of bluegrass, rock and roll, jass, and celtic music.
Railroad Earth consists of vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Todd Sheaffer, violinist/vocalist Tim Carbone, mandolinist John Skehan, multi-instrumentalist Andy Goessling, drummer/vocalist Carey Harmon, and bassist Dave Von Dollen. In total, the band has released seven studio albums including: The Black Bear Sessions (2001), Bird in a House (2002), The Good Life (2004), Elko (2006), Amen Corner (2008), Railroad Earth (2010), and Last of the Outlaws (2014.)
