Rare Earth is a rock band from Detroit, Michigan, United States. The band was formed in 1960, and its current members include lead vocalist/saxophonist Gil Bridges, bassist/vocalist Randy ‘Bird’ Burghdoff, drummer/lead vocalist Floyd Stokes Jr., keyboardist Mike Bruner, and lead guitarist Jerry Lew Patterson. The band has had several lineup changes over the years, with a few members joining and leaving the team. The band released their debut album “Dreams/Answers'' in 1968.
They released their second album, titled “Get Ready,” followed by the third album, “Generation (soundtrack),” in the same year. The band released its first single, “Generation, Light Up the Sky,” in 1969. The following year, they released three new singles; “(I Know) I’m Losing You,” “Born to Wander,” and “I Just Want to Celebrate.” The band also released live albums, including “Rare Earth in Concert” in 1971, “Live in Chicago” in 1974, “Made in Switzerland” in 1989 and others. The band’s latest album, “A Brand New World,” was released in 2008.
