Rebelution Bio
Formed in 2004 in Santa Barbara, California, the band Rebelution was founded by Eric Rachmany, Matt Velasquez, Rory Carey, Wesley Finley, and Marley Williams. The quintet met in their college years, bonded by their interests in reggae music. They gained fame on the local scene as they played a variety of live shows, eventually releasing their debut album Courage to Grow in 2007. The album went to #4 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart that year, and they followed this initial success with their second album Bright Side of Life in 2009. Their sophomore album eclipsed their first in terms of charting, going to #1 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart and gave them entry to various festivals such as Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and the All Good Music Festival. The band would go on to release Peace of Mind in 2012 as well as Count Me In in 2014. Velasquez has since departed the group, yet the quartet are frequently joined on their tours by instrumentalists Khris Royal and Zach Meyerowitz.
