Renato Fabrizio Tapia Cortijo is a soccer player born on July 28, 1995, in Lima, Peru. His football journey began at Sporting Cristal's youth system, being in the system from 2004 to 2007. He further honed his skills at the Esther Grande Academy. The defensive midfielder began his senior career with Jong FC Twente in 2013, where he made 39 appearances and scored one goal.
Renato continued to impress, earning a move to FC Twente in 2013, where he made 31 appearances and scored six goals. In 2016, he signed with Feyenoord, where he made 45 appearances and scored two goals across four years. Renato won the Eredivisie in the 2016/17 season and the KNVB Cup in 2015/16 and 2017/18. He was also part of the squad that claimed the Johan Cruijff Shield in 2017 and 2018.
Renato briefly went on loan to Willem II in 2019, where he played 16 games and scored one goal. In 2020, he made a significant move to Celta, where he has featured in 92 games. He began representing Peru in 2011 and made his debut with the senior national team in 2015, earning 79 caps and scoring five goals. Renato was part of the Peru national team that reached the final of the Copa América in 2019.
