Renée Elise Goldsberry Bio

Renée Elise Goldsberry is an American actress, singer, and songwriter born in San Jose, California on January 2, 1971. She is best known for her role as Angelica Schuyler in the Broadway Musical Hamilton. In 2016 she won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role in Hamilton. She made her stage debut in 1997 in the musical Dreamgirls and has since had roles in the musicals and plays The Lion King, The Color Purple, Rent, Good People, As You Like It, Hamilton and more. She also made her debut on television in 1997, in the show Ally McBeal and continued landing roles in the shows Ally, Any Day Now, One on One, One Life to Live, Life on Mars, Royal Pains, Masters of Sex, Younger, The Lion Guard, Altered Carbon and others. In 2001 she made her debut in film in the movie Palco & Hirsh and has also had roles in the films All About You, Turnaround, Pistol Whipped, Every Secret Thing, Sisters, and The House with a Clock in Its Walls. As a singer, she released her debut studio album in 2001 titled Everything But the Kitchen Sink and in 2016 she released her debut EP titled Beautiful. Throughout her career she has been nominated for several awards and has won a Tony Award, a Grammy Award, a Drama Desk Award and more.
