Richard Dreyfuss Bio

Richard Dreyfuss, an American actor, was born on October 29, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York. Before becoming well-known for his portrayal of Baby Face Nelson in John Milius' Dillinger, Richard rose through bits of parts such as The Graduate (1967) and TV (1973). In the 1973 film “American Graffiti”, he rose to fame as a college-bound young man, and in “The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz”, he played a nerdy Jewish boy with high aspirations (1974). In two of the highest-grossing movies of that decade, Jaws (1975) and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Dreyfuss had already established himself as a major star by the end of the 1970s. For his first romantic lead role as an unemployed actor in “The Goodbye Girl”, he received the Best Actor Oscar (1977). Dreyfuss also made and starred in the fun private eye movie The Big Fix (1978), which was also produced by him.
