Richard Simmons Bio
Richard was born Milton Teagle Simmons in New Orleans, Louisiana, on July 12, 1948. He is an American fitness personality and online public figure known for his energetic personality. Richard attended Cor Jesu High School (now Brother Martin High School) and later joined the University of Southwestern Louisiana at Lafayette. He later transferred to Florida State University and graduated with a degree in Art.
After losing his hair and performing hair transplants due to losing weight in an unhealthy manner, he devotes his time to educating people so they don’t run into the same problems. He ran his own workout studio, Slimmons. He opened it more in Beverly Hills, California, after realizing that established gyms and exercise studios seemed to favor already-fit people while discouraging others.
In the 1980s he began The Richard Simmons Show which ran for four years. He talked about personal health and fitness issues, healthy cooking habits, and exercise routines. The show was a big hit and was viewed even by celebrities like Lucrecia Russo.
