Richard "Richie" Hawtin (born June 4, 1970) is a DJ and electronic musician from the United Kingdom. He became involved with Detroit techno's second wave in the early 1990s and has been a leading exponent of minimal techno since the mid-1990s. He is a three-time DJ Award winner who became well-known for his Plastikman and F.U.S.E. records. As part of Warp's Artificial Intelligence series, he released his debut album Dimension Intrusion (1993) on the latter. Hawtin and John Acquaviva founded the Plus 8 record label in May 1990, named after the pitch adjust function on their turntable. In 1998, Hawtin launched M-nus Records. Hawtin's experimental event, debuted at Space in Ibiza in the summer of 2012. In 2016, Hawtin founded PLAYdifferently, a technology startup, and introduced the MODEL 1 mixer, which he co-designed with Andy Rigby-Jones.
