Rico Love Bio
Born Richard Butler, Jr., on December 3, 1982, Rico Love is a well-known songwriter, rapper/singer, and producer from New Orleans. After attending college in Florida, Rico Love moved to Atlanta to focus on his goal of becoming a rapper. While there, he met and lived with some music producers who happened to be working on a remix for Usher, which they allowed Rico Love to rap on. Usher was so impressed that he signed him to US Records/J Records and asked him to compose a song for him, which became the single “Throwback” featured on the Confessions album from 2004.
Though Rico Love recorded a solo album entitled The 5th Element in 2007, he decided not to release it, preferring instead to continue working to write and produce songs of many well-known artists. He has since been able to work with Mary J. Blige on her song “Mr. Wrong” in 2011, Kelly Rowland on “Motivation” in 2011, and Trey Songz on “Heart Attack” in 2012, as well as multiple songs with Usher, Fergie, Mario, and Jamie Foxx. Rico Love finally released an EP entitled Discrete Luxury in 2013.
