Robert Rodriguez is an American filmmaker born in San Antonio, Texas on June 20, 1968. He frequently makes his films in Mexico and Texas. He is best known for directing the film El Mariachi and its two sequels Mexico Trilogy and Once Upon a Time in Mexico. He is also known for co-directing the films Sin City and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Rodriguez is a friend and collaborator of the filmmaker Quentin Tarantino and is part of his production company A Band Apart. He made his directorial debut on the film El Mariachi and has since been part of the films Roadracers, Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, The Faculty, Sky Kids, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Sin City, Machete, Shorts, Red 11, Alita: Battle Angel and more. In 2013 Rodriguez started his own cable television channel name El Rey. Throughout his career he has been nominated for a number of awards and has won three ASCAP Awards, a Silver Scream Award, a Golden Satellite Award, a ShoWest Award and others.
