Robert Schwenke was born in 1968 in Stuttgart, Germany. Before obtaining his United States citizenship, he acquired a Philosophy degree at Karls-University in Tuebingen. He finished his studies at Columbia College Hollywood in 1992 after graduating from the Los Angeles Film School. In the very beginning of his directing career, Schwentke directed two movies in Germany, Tattoo and Eierdieble. Eierdeible won him the Audience award at the Biberach Film Festival in 2003. His early Hollywood career started in 2003 with a movie Flightplan, which featured Jodie Foster as the leading actor. His best-known movies are RED (2010), The Time Traveler’s Wife (2009), R.I.P.D (2003), Insurgent (2015) and Allegiant (2016). Robert Schwentke keeps his personal life private and lets his movies speak for him.
