ROES Bio

Born Raykeea Angel Wilson on July 10, 1991, rapper Angel Haze hails from Detroit, Michigan, where many great rappers got their start. Haze went through a shady and traumatic period in her childhood at the hands of her family’s involvement in what she has called a cult-like organization. She broke away from it, however, and was able to release her EP Reservation in 2012. Later that year, she released her version of the Eminem song “Cleanin’ Out My Closet”, and after signing to Universal Republic Records, which eventually closed their doors, she was moved to Republic Records. The BBC later nominated her as part of their poll known as Sound of 2013.

Angel Haze was featured as part of XXL Magazine’s Freshman Class of 2013, and teamed up with rapper Iggy Azalea in 2013 in London to perform a rendition of the Jay-Z and Kanye West song “Otis”. Angel Haze also used that performance as an opportunity to promote her debut album Dirty Gold, which includes the track “No Bueno”. The album was released in late 2013, and sold close to 2,000 copies internationally in its first week. Angel Haze was able to record with rapper Ludacris, and together, they released the theme song to the film 22 Jump Street.
