Roger Sanchez Bio

Roger Sanchez was born on June 1, 1967 in Queens, New York. He attended the High School of Art and Design in New York City and went on to attend the Pratt Institute to pursue a degree in architecture. His father encouraged him to try DJing full time, and Sanchez eventually left Pratt to do so.

Sanchez worked his way up on the New York City DJ circuit and eventually started headlining nightclub performances around the city. In 1994, he released his debut studio album, “Secret Weapons Volume 1.” He followed that up with “Secret Weapons Volume 2” in 1995. He started touring internationally and remixed songs by many well-known artists including Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, Daft Punk, Alicia Keys, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Maroon 5, and Depeche Mode. His 2002 remix of No Doubt’s “Hella Good” earned him a 2003 Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical. He founded Stealth Records in 2002, which has released singles and albums by many electronic dance music artists. In addition to his Grammy, he has won four DJ Awards and an International Dance Music Award, and has been nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award, eight DJ Music Awards, and eleven International Dance Music Awards. He has held several summer residencies on the island of Ibiza.
