Archie Fairhurst (popularly known as Romare) is a UK-based electronic producer. He took the name Romare after the African-American artist and songwriter Romare Bearden.
Archie (aka Romare) studied visual culture while attending university and switched from drums and guitar to making sample-based tracks. He first released his work under Bristol’s Black Acre label. Some of his first releases were Meditations on Afrocentrism in 2012 and Love Songs Pt. 1 in 2013. DJs like Gilles Peterson and Benji B hugely supported the releases and earned him a deal with Ninja Tune label. Roots/Pusherman single followed in 2014 and the album Projections was seen in 2015.
Romare had a busy touring schedule performing his songs with live band sessions in addition to solo DJ gigs. Home, his third full-length album, was released in 2020.
