Roopa Ganguly is an award-winning Indian actress, singer, and politician best known for her work in Bollywood films and TV series. She was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, on November 25, 1966. Roopa began her acting career in the mid-1980s when she was cast in the films Ithile Iniyum Varu and Paar. She has since had recurring roles in the TV series Badho Bahu, MTV Warrior High, Kasturi, Sahib Biwi Gulam, Mahabharat Katha, Mahabharat, and Chandrakanta. Roopa’s filmography includes Antarmahal, Bahaar Aane Tak, Nagordola, Padma Nadir Majhi, Punascha, and Na Hannyate, but she is best known for starring in the comedy-drama film Barfi alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Ileana D'Cruz, and Saurabh Shukla. She has won multiple awards for her acting including a Kalakar Award for Best Actress, a Bengal Film Journalists' Association Award for Best Supporting Actress, and a Dhaka International Film Festival Award for Best Actress. Roopa has also served as the Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha.
