Roy Levesta Jones Jr. is an American former professional boxer who was born on January 16, 1969, in Pensacola, Florida. He won world championships titles in four weight classes, which include middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight. He was raised in a family that carried a boxing tradition, and his father, a Vietnam war veteran, was a middleweight boxer. He began his career as a boxer as an amateur and won the 1984 United States Junior Olympics in the 119 lb weight division, and the 1986 and 1987 United States National Golden Gloves in the 139 lb and 156 lb division, respectively. In 1988, he participated in the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games in the 156-pound weight class and made it to the finals but did not win. It was during his professional career that started in 1989, where he won multiple titles as the world champion.
