Rudy Gay Bio

Rudy Gay is an American professional basketball player born in 1986 in Baltimore, Maryland. He has played the position of small forward since playing varsity basketball in high school. While attending Archbishop Spalding high school, he was named All-Met Basketball Player of the Year by the Washington Post, and All-American player by Mc Donald’s. He was recruited by the University of Connecticut in 2004, and distinguished himself throughout college, earning nominations for Big East Preseason Player of the Year and first-team All-America by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), both in 2006. Later that year, the athlete was drafted into the NBA by the Houston Rockets. Gay was later transferred to the Memphis Grizzlies. In the 2007-2008 NBA season he became a runner-up for the league’s Most Improved Player Award, and also took part in the 2008 Rising Stars Slam Dunk Contest. After a brief stint with the Toronto Raptors, Gay signed with the Sacramento Kings in 2013.
