Rupam Islam is an Indian singer, songwriter, composer, and musician known as the frontman of the Bangla rock band Fossils and as a playback singer in Bollywood films. He was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, on January 25, 1974. Rupam began his music career in 1998 when he formed the Bangla band Fossils with fellow musicians Deep Ghosh, Allan Temjen Ao, Prasenjit 'Pom' Chakrabutty, and Tanmoy Das. He has continued to perform with the group while simultaneously embarking on solo projects. His discography includes the hit singles Jannat Jahan, Ei Srabon, Bneche Thakar Gaan, and the album Aami. Rupam has worked in the music department of the Bollywood films Autograph, Hemlock Society, Baishe Srabon, Kakababur Protyaborton, and 22 Shey Shraban which featured Prasenjit Chatterjee, Raima Sen, and Parambrata Chattopadhyay.
