Ryan Shazier is an American professional football player born in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida on September 6, 1992. He is currently a linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League. Shazier played football in high school at Plantation High School in Plantation, Florida. He went on to play college football at Ohio State University for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team from 2011 to 2013. In 2014 he decided to forgo his senior season to enter the NFL Draft. In 2014 he was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round, 15th overall, in the 2014 NFL Draft. He was signed to a four-year contract for $9.5 million with a signing bonus of $5.23 million. He made his regular season debut in the NFL in the Steelers home opener against the Cleveland Browns. In 2017 the Steelers picked up the fifth-year option on his contract. Throughout his career he has recorded 299 tackles, 7 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries, and 7 interceptions.
