Salvador Sobral, born Salvador Vilar Braamcamp Sobral on December 28th, 1989 in Lisbon, Portugal is a Portuguese singer that started in music at the age of 10 on the T.V. show Bravo Bravissimo. In 2009 he competed on season three of the Idols singing competition and placed in the top ten. His musical influences include Stevie Wonder and Leonard Cohen.
In 2016 Salvador released his debut single “Excuse Me” and his debut studio album also entitled Excuse Me. The album charted at number 10 on the Portuguese Album Chart. In 2017 he was selected to compete for Portugal in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. Salvador went on to win the contest with 758 points, a competition record for most points, by performing an original song called “Amar Pelos Dois” In 2017 he performed at the Super Bock Super Rock festival in Lisbon with pianist Julio Resende.
