Sam Taylor-Johnson, who was born as Samantha Louise Taylor-Wood, is a British filmmaker and photographer who was born on March 4, 1967, in Croydon, London. She began her career as a photographer in the 1990s. Since then, she has worked for very important brands including Chanel and the National Portrait Gallery, has photographed famous people like David Beckham, Robin Williams and Sean Penn and has exhibited her work at the Chisenhale Gallery and The Saatchi Gallery. She made her debut in the film industry with the movie “Destricted” in 2006, which was followed by “Love You More” in 2008 and “Nowhere Boy” in 2009. Her most famous movie project is the 2015 popular “Fifty Shades of Grey” for which she received a nomination at the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Director. Along her career, she has been nominated twice at the BAFTA Film Awards and won several awards at different film festivals, including San Diego Film Festival, Hamburg Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival.
