Sampha Lahai Sisay, better known mononymously as Sampha, is a British singer-songwriter and record producer from South London. The now 27 year old is known for his collaborations with Jessie Ware, Drake, Solange, Frank Ocean and Kanye West among many others. The also talented keyboardist released his first EP in ‘Sundanza’ after gaining online attention from his remix of The XX’s ‘Basic Space’. The artist broke through with his soulful vocals and was heard on many popular R&B tracks such as Drake’s ‘Too Much’ and Beyonce’s ‘Mine’. Sampha’s popularity was growing and he began to continuously collaborate with many other artists such as SBTRKT, FKA Twigs, Solange, Kanye West and Frank Ocean. In 2017, Sampha debuted his first full length album titled ‘Process’ through Young Turks Recordings which hit the Top 10 in the U.K. Later that year ‘Process’ won the 2017 Mercury Prize along with Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards Album of the Year. ‘Process’ produced his biggest hits such as ‘(No One Knows Me) Like The Piano with 56 million plays and ‘Incomplete Kisses’ with 21 million plays amongst many others. He is considered one of UK’s most enigmatic artists and has been nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Breakthrough artist.
