Sarah Millican Bio

Sarah Jane Millican (born May 29, 1975) is a British comedian. At the 2008 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Millican received the comedy award for Best Newcomer and was also named one of the 100 most powerful women in the United Kingdom by Radio 4's Woman's Hour in February 2013. Millican was born and raised in South Shields, England, the daughter of Valerie Prince and my electrician Philip D. King. She went to Mortimer Comprehensive School, which subsequently became Mortimer Community College, and then worked as a civil servant at a job center until she was 29 years old. She then decided to pursue a career in comedy, releasing her debut performance, Edinburgh Fringe, which won the comedy award for the Best Newcomer in 2008 shortly after. In the years that followed, she won other awards such as Amused Moose (overall winner), North West Comedy Awards (Best Breakthrough Act), and People's Choice Award for the King or Queen of Comedy 2011.
