Sasha Velour is an American drag queen, actress, television and theatre producer and creative director who was born on June 25th 1987 in Illinois, United States. She was born in Illinois but is not based in Brooklyn, New York. She attended and graduated from the Center for Cartoon Studies as she is also a professional illustrator and art director.
Sasha rose to fame when she contested and won the ninth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Her lip-sync to Whitney Houston’s So Emotional at the final was hailed by AV Club as the performance of the year. In 2020, she starred in an 8-episode docu-series of her long-running drag review NightGowns for Quibi. Her 2019 Sasha Velour’s Smoke & Mirrors show debuted in 2019. She also hosted the Ignatz Awards, and on the same season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, she appeared as special guest Lady Gaga.
