Scott Cooper Bio
Scott Cooper is an award-winning American film director, screenwriter, actor, and producer best known for his directing work in the films Black Mass and Crazy Heart. He was born in Abingdon, Virginia, United States, on April 20, 1970. He began his career in Hollywood as an actor in the late ‘90s with appearances in the film Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and the TV series The X-Files. In 2009, he wrote and produced his first film Crazy Heart which featured Jeff Bridges, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Colin Farrell, and James Keane. Scott has since directed the films Black Mass, Hostiles, Out of the Furnace, and Get Low. He has won numerous awards including an Independent Spirit Award at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, a Best Debut and Second Film Award at the Rome Film Fest, and a Founders Prize at the Traverse City Film Festival for Best US Fiction Film.
