Sekou Doumbouya is a Guinean basketball player, who was born on December 23th, 2000 in Conakry, Guinea. Although he was born in Guinea, his family eventually relocated to France when he was just one year old. His first sport was soccer, and he didn’t start playing basketball until he was 12 years old. He started his career with the club CJF Les Aubrais. Sekou plays in small forward and power forward positions, and rose to prominence in France while playing for Poitiers Basket 86 and Limoges CSP, respectively. He was an instrumental part of France's run to the gold medal at the 2016 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship. Moreover, the Detroit Pistons chose him with the 15th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
