Selah Sue, born Sanne Putseys (May 3, 1989) is a Belgian singer-songwriter from the city of Leuven. Selah Sue developed her talent for music by learning guitar and composing her own songs at the age of 15. She released her first EP in 2009 titled ‘Black Part Love’. With the guidance of Ancienne Belgique, a Belgian musical theater, she was led to singing at stages for the North Sea Jazz festival, Lowlands and huge Belgium festivals such as Les Ardentes and Dour Festival. She released her second EP, ‘Raggamuffin’ in 2010 and in the same year, opened for Prince in his Sportpaleis concert. In 2011, Selah Sue released her self-titled debut album, which hit number one on the Belgium Albums Chart as well as making that charts in Netherlands, Switzerland and France. Hit singles from the album include ‘This World’, ‘Crazy Vibes’ and ‘Please’ featuring CeeLo Green. By the end of 2011, she won three awards at the Flemish Music Industry Awards. Selah continued to make her mark around Europe and released a short EP titled ‘Alone’ in 2014 featuring R&B artist Childish Gambino. The single became a Top 10 Hit in France and Flanders. The lead single of the album, ‘Alone’, currently has 18 million plays on Spotify.
