Sepultura is a heavy metal band from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The group’s current members include Paulo Jr., Andreas Kisser, Derrick Green, and Eloy Casagrande. The group’s past members include the likes of Jairo Guedz, Max Cavalera, Igor Cavalera, and Jean Dolabella. The group formed in 1984 after hearing the album Black Sabbath Vol.4. The band is also influenced by the groups Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, and Deep Purple.
In 1985 the group signed with Cogumelo Records and released an EP called Bestial Devastation. The EP was made in conjunction with fellow Brazilian band Overdose. In 1986 Sepultura released their first full length album called Morbid Visions. 1987 saw the release of their second album called Schizophrenia under the labed Roadrunner Records. The band’s third album, Beneath the Remains, was released in 1989. This is the album that brought the band mainstream success. In 1991 they released the album Arise.
In 1993 the band went through a lineup change and then released the album Chaos A.D. In 1996 the group released their most creative album called Roots. After the departure of their lead singer in 1996, the band found a new singer and released in the album called Nation in 2001. Overall, the group released 14 studio albums in all up to 2017.
