Jared Seth Jones is an ice hockey defenseman born on 3rd October 1994 in Arlington, Texas. He was a member of the team that bagged gold in the 2013 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship. At 5, Jones began to play hockey with the Nuggets. He began his amateur career with the Quebec Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament. He started playing with the Dallas Stars Bantam Major team. In 2009, he was selected eleventh overall by the Everett Silvertips. He went on to play college hockey for the Western Hockey League. After one season, he joined the NTDP. In the first season with the NTDP, he was the co-captain of the U-17 team. This season also included international play, United States Hockey League games and the National Collegiate Athletic Association team. He's played for three seasons and completed with 14 goals in 61 games and led his team to victory at the Ed Chynoweth Cup of the WHL. He was then named to the First All-Star Team and also bagged the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy for Rookie of the Year. He was the number one prospect for the 2013 NHL Draft. He was selected fourth overall by the Nashville Predators. In the last year of his three-year entry contract, he was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
