Seven Lions, born Jeff Montaivo on March 31st, 1987 in Santa Barbara, California is an American DJ, record producer and remix artist. He began experimenting with music at the age of 7 on his first Mac computer. He grew up playing the bass guitar and electric guitar. He then learned to play the drums and began playing in several metal and punk bands. In college he discovered an interest in trance music after receiving a Tiesto CD. Seven Lions specializes in the genres of melodic dubstep, electro house, progressive house, and trance.
In 2010 Seven Lions released an unofficial remix to Florence and the Machine’s track “Cosmic Love.” The track garnered so much attention it was released as an official remix by the label Moshi Moshi Records. In 2011 he entered the Above and Beyond official remix completion. He remixed the track “You Got To Go.” The song stayed at number 2 on the Beatport Dubstep Chart for over 6 weeks.
In 2012 he released his EP called Days to Come. The EP was named one of Vibe Magazine’s Top Electronic Albums of 2012. His next EP, Worlds Apart, charted in at number 76 on the Billboard 200. Seven Lions has played at major musical festivals including SXSW, Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival and Camp Bisco.
