Shama Sikander Bio

Shama Sikandar, born on 4th August 1891 in Makrana, Rajasthan, hails from a very humble background. When her family moved to Mumbai, she discovered her passion for acting. Right after completing Grade 10, she went on to study acting at Roshan Taneja School of Acting. Her career had a slow start with small roles in films like "Prem Aggan", "Mann", and "Ansh: The Deadly Part". It was television that have her nationwide recognition with the role of Pooja Metha in the TV series, "Yeh Meri Life Hai". This role also won her several awards, such as the 12th Annual Lion's Gold Awards Critics' Choice Best Actress, an Indian Television Academy Award and the Best Face Award by Sony TV. Following this, she even bagged the lead role in the film "Chand Bujh Gaya", which was based on the 2002 Gujarat Riots. In late 2017, Shama Sikandar moved on to the role of producer and established Shama Sikandar Films Pvt. Ltd which is known for "Ab Dil Ki Sunn", a well-received short film series.
