Shankar Mahadevan is an Indian composer and singer-songwriter who was born on March 3rd 1967 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He was born and raised in the suburb of Chembur to a Tamil Iyer family. Shankar rose to fame as a member of the elite Indian musical composition trio Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy which was formed in 1989 with his friends Ehsaan Noorani, Loy Mendonsa. The trio has won many awards for their musical compositions for Bollywood films including D-Day (2013), Don 2 (2011), and Tere Bin Laden (2010). Shankar won four National film awards and was also named the Best Male Playback Singer for the song Bolo Na (2012). Some of Shankar’s albums include Breathless (1998, feat. Javed Akhtar), Shravan Dhara (2000), Teri Hee Parchhayian (2011) and Is That So? (2020, feat. John McLaughlin & Zakir Hussain).
